Resumo(s)
Este trabalho tem como principal objectivo analisar os impactes da política ambiental sobre os padrões de especialização do comércio externo da indústria transformadora portuguesa.
Segundo a teoria económica, os países com uma política ambiental mais restritiva, reflexo da uma menor dotação ambiental, tendem a especializar-se nos sectores produtivos menos poluentes, enquanto que os países que não adoptam tais medidas terão uma vantagem comparativa nos sectores mais poluentes.
É desenvolvido um modelo para o comércio externo, adaptado do teorema de Heckscher-Ohlin das vantagens comparativas, onde incluímos uma variável ambiente que traduz o comportamento ambiental dos 27 sectores da indústria transformadora portuguesa.
Através dos resultados do modelo estimado podemos concluir que este sector evidência uma especialização relativa nas actividades produtivas mais prejudiciais para o ambiente.
The main purpose of this thesis is to investiga te the impacts of the environmental policy on pattems of trade of the portuguese manufacture industry. According to the economic theoty, the countries with a stringent environmental policy, as a result of a less environmental endowment, encourage increased specialisation in the production of pollution intensive outputs; while those countries that do not implement such measures should present a comparative advantage on pollution intensive sectors. Is developed a trade model, adjusted from the Heckscher-Ohlin theorem of comparative advantage, in which is included an environmental variable that represents the environmental performance of the 27 sectors of the portuguese manufacture industry. From the results of the estimated modo! we concluded that this industty shows a relative specialisation on productive activities that more damage cause to the environment
