Deste modo, serão apresentadas as linhas
contextualiza a institucionalização do colégio.
A reconfiguração social,
The aim of this dissertation is the study of the educational institution Colégio dos Nobres da Cidade de Lisboa. In this regard, shall be presented a contextualization of the Johannine monarchy, especially in its cultural and political aspects, seeking, at the same time, to demonstrate the transition period for the Josephan monarchy. The foundation of this institution relates itself to certain events that marked the year of 1759. The social reconfiguration, which is evident after the execution of the Távoras, the expulsion of the Jesuits and the nomination of D. Tomás de Almedia, to occupy the position of Director General of Studies, presents a new conception of society, education and power. From the study of primary sources, given the scarcity o bibliography, we will seek to define, concretely, what can be understood as Colégio dos Nobres, to whom it was intended for, who were its students, who was responsible for its daily management, who were the teachers, and what was taught. Highlighting a first idea, the foundation of this institution should be considered as a political, theoretical and diplomatic process, since seceral dates could be presented, from the nomination of D. Tomás de Almeida, the publication of the college’s statutes and its official inauguration. From this point of view, it is more appropriate to regard this study from a procedural point of view, avoiding analyzes leading to definitive dates. Finally, understanding the relation of this institution with Coimbra University and the future service of the kingdom, a prosopographical analysis will be made, in order to understand if these purposes, which justify the existence of this school were fulfilled
