Although the emergence of antiretroviral therapy for individuals infected with the human immunodeficiency virus has been contributed for the prevention of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome, controlling the viral load and allowing a longer life expectancy, these advent did not eradicate the infections and other associated diseases, such as cancer. Some cancers like KaposiÂŽs Sarcoma have decreased the incidence in HIV patients while others incidences have been mounting even with prolonged ART when compared to pre-ART period. There are many studies, which have been developed over the years with goal to study the contribution of ART and how it could be associated to the progression of cancer incidence. In this project, I sought to gather some information about HIV therapy instituted nowadays, such as cancer types who might be associated with HIV patients and how the antiretroviral therapy could affects the incidence their incidence.
