As escavações até ao momento realizadas na Colina do Castelo de São Jorge, em Lisboa, proporcionaram um conjunto muito apreciável de materiais arqueológicos da Idade do Ferro. Entre estes, as produções de engobe vermelho ganham um particular destaque pelo seu potencial cronológico e pela sua clara afiliação a aspectos culturais de matriz orientalizante. Neste trabalho procura-se sistematizar os dados relacionados com o fabrico, tipologia, decoração e evolução destes materiais que, na grande maioria dos casos até ao momento documentados, parecem corresponder a produções locais deste importante núcleo de povoamento.
Excavations carried out in Castelo de São Jorge´s Hill, in Lisbon, uncovered a very significant set of Iron Age archaeological materials. Among these, the production of red-slip ware is particularly important due to its chronological potential and by its clear affiliation to the Orientalizing cultural framework. In this work, we will try to systematize the available data attending to its manufacture, typology, decoration and general evolution of these materials, which, in the majority of the documented cases so far, seem to correspond to local productions of this important settlement.
