Com um mundo em que os Estados são cada vez mais interdependentes, vários são
os desafios que lhes são colocados numa das suas áreas estratégicas, a segurança.
Com a queda do muro de Berlim (1989) e o processo de globalização assiste-se a
uma permeabilidade das fronteiras no que concerne aos riscos e ameaças (que podem
ter origem dentro ou fora das fronteiras nacionais) à segurança interna dos Estados,
que passaram a ser de difícil detenção exigindo o desenvolvimento de estratégias cada
vez mais eficazes tendo vista o impedimento dessa permeabilidade, que veio a ser
confirmada com os atentados às Torres Gémeas nos Estados Unidos da América.
Desta forma, esta dissertação ocupa-se da análise da situação do Sistema de
Segurança Interna de São Tomé e Príncipe através da análise das suas potencialidades
e das suas vulnerabilidades, tendo com o objetivo perceber os principais desafios a
Segurança Interna do País no presente Século.
With a world in which states are increasingly interdependent, there are a number of challenges facing by them in one of their strategic areas, security. With the fall of the Berlin Wall (1989) and the globalization process there is a permeability of borders with regard to risks and threats (which may originate inside or outside national boundaries) to the States Homeland Security, which have become to be difficult to detain by requiring the development of increasingly effective strategies to prevent this permeability, which came to be confirmed with the attacks on the Twin Towers in the United States of America. Accordingly, this dissertation focus on the analysis of the situation of the Homeland Security System of São Tomé and Príncipe through the analysis of its potentialities and its vulnerabilities, with the objective of perceiving the main challenges to the Homeland Security of the country in the present Century.
