Caminar y crear entre rocas: el arte de Richard Long: afinidades con el pensamiento filosófico de Henri Bergson

El presente trabajo pretende confrontar el arte de Richad Long con el pensamiento del filósofo Henri Bergson, analizando y profundizando en las afinidades que existen entre ellos. Se hará una introducción al movimiento artístico del Land Art, al cual pertenece Richard Long y además se verá las influencias de este movimiento artístico: el Arte de la Prehistoria, el Romanticismo y el Budismo Zen. Seguidamente se estudiarán diversas formas de crear de Richard Long: las esculturas al aire libre (outdoor), el caminar y las obras en las galerías de arte (indoor). Entenderemos con esto la importancia de la relación entre el hombre y la naturaleza, como caminando al aire libre puede hacerse una obra de arte y el motivo de que Richard Long deje la mayoría de sus obras en la propia naturaleza, en el lugar en el que se realizó.
A continuación, desde el estudio del pensamiento filosófico de Henri Bergson iremos comparando este con la obra anteriormente descrita de Richard Long. Principalmente analizaremos el tiempo, el movimiento, el cuerpo y el entorno, el concepto de naturaleza y la critica que ambos hacen al mecanicismo.
Abstract: This work aims at confronting the art of Richard Long at the thought of Henri Bergson, in pursuit of their deep affinities. An introduction to the artistic movement Land Art to which Richard Long belongs is given, together with the influences this movement received from Prehistoric Art, Romanticism and Zen Buddhism. This will be followed by the analysis of the different forms of Richard Long’s artistic creation: outdoor sculptures and their way in to indoor art galleries. The purpose is understanding not only the deep bond between man and nature, but also to what extent outdoor walking may became art, and the reason why Richard Long leaves most of his artwork in the landscape, where he created it. Finally, aspects of Henri Bergson’s thinking that may bear relation to Richard Long’s art are object of analysis, with particular emphasis on time and movement, body and environment, the idea of nature and the criticism of mechanism common to both.
