Esta tese procura investigar a teia de relações existentes entre cinema e museu a partir de
três abordagens diferentes. Em primeiro lugar, perguntando se certas questões que dizem
respeito ao museu podem ser pensadas enquanto problemas de cinema. Em segundo lugar,
organizando as representações cinematográficas do museu segundo linhas temáticas que
tornam explícitas ideias de museu. Finalmente, analisando com maior detalhe um grupo de
filmes que cruzam e tornam concretas várias das interrogações levantadas até aí. A
pergunta que conduz esta investigação é a seguinte: em que medida é que, ao figurar o
espaço do museu, e ao criar assim uma ideia de museu, o cinema está a falar sobre si
próprio?
This dissertation aims at investigating the web of relationships between cinema and museum through three different approaches. First, by asking if certain issues that concern the museum could pertain to cinema too. Second, by organising film representations of the museum along thematic axes that clarify ideas of what a museum might be. Finally, by analysing in greater detail a group of films that intersect and give concrete form to the issues raised thus far. The question that leads this investigation is: by representing the space of the museum and thus creating an idea of museum, in what way is cinema talking about itself?
