O sítio dos Alcariais dos Guerreiros de Cima foi objecto de escavação em
2001 pela equipa da empresa Era-Arqueologia, tendo sido anteriormente
intervencionada no contexto de uma acção de arqueologia de contrato, com vista à
minimização do impacto da construção da auto-estrada A2 no património
arqueológico. Esta escavação colocou a descoberto um conjunto de casas islâmicas
rurais e respectivos materiais. O objectivo desta dissertação foi em primeiro lugar
estudar os materiais cerâmicos do Edifício 5, que correspondia à estrutura mais
interessante a nível arquitectónico, realizando-se, em simultâneo, uma pequena
abordagem às restantes construções presentes neste sítio.
Os Guerreiros situam-se no Baixo Alentejo, em Gomes Aires (Almodôvar),
sendo a sua localização relevante na organização do território do Garb al-Andalus e
das vias de comunicação entre os vários assentamentos rurais e cidades.
Abstract: The site of Alcariais dos Guerreiros de Cima was excavated in 2001 by the Era-Arqueologia team, having previously been excavated in the context of contract archeology activities in order to minimize the impact of construction of the A2 motorway in the archaeological heritage. This excavation has uncovered a number of rural structures and islamic materials. The aim of this dissertation was to study the ceramic materials from Building 5, which was the most interesting structure from an architectural point of view, making simultaneously a small approach to the other buildings present in this site. The site of Guerreiros is situated in Alentejo, in Gomes Aires (Almodôvar), its location being interesting in the organization of the territory of Garb al-Andalus and the communication routes between the various rural settlements and cities.
