Abstract(s)

The alphabet is one of the most important discoveries and arose with the need to communicate. It began with symbols, evolving over time to the different alphabets we know today, used in various parts of the world and modified to meet the needs of each society. Through the appearance of alphabets, the first prints with movable characters appeared, experiments carried out by Gutenberg, the pioneer of manual printing. After these advances in the use of movable characters, the first typographic workshops and new fonts were born, which played an important role in the dissemination of ideas and information. This project work aims to investigate the importance and use of typography, taking into account its historical context, how it is possible to transmit ideas and emotions through different fonts as well as its reception by the general public.
