A investigação desenvolvida na presente dissertação centra-se na questão da intervenção levada a cabo por parte das Autoridades Públicas em cenários de crise bancária, mais concretamente no contexto de crise que afecta a Zona Euro desde 2008 até ao presente. Nesse âmbito são analisadas as motivações que podem conduzir à realização de tais intervenções, os seus efeitos positivos e negativos no mercado, bem como os desafios que se colocam perante o actual paradigma de intervenção, com recurso à análise dos correspondentes fundamentos teóricos, dos dados empíricos resultantes das crises bancárias ocorridas na Irlanda, Portugal e Chipre, e do longo caminho jurídico percorrido desde a aprovação das Comunicações Sobre a Crise até à aprovação dos pilares da recém-criada União Bancária.
The research undertaken in this dissertation focuses on the issue of the intervention carried out by Public Authorities in scenarios of banking crises, specifically in the context of crisis affecting the Eurozone since the year 2008 until the present. In this context are analyzed the motivations that can lead to the achievement of such interventions, their positive and negative effects in the market, as well as the challenges faced by the current paradigm of intervention, using the analysis of the corresponding theoretical foundations, empirical data resulting from banking crisis in Ireland, Portugal and Cyprus, and the long legal journey from the approval of the Crisis Communications until the adoption of the pillars of the newly established Banking Union.
