O género é manifestamente importante nos assuntos ambientais, porém, o debate para estabelecer uma ligação entre género e am-biente é mais recentemente, o desenvolvi-mento sustentável está longe de terminado. O objectivo deste artigo é pois, o de apre-sentar uma reflexão sobre as relações de gé-nero nos domínios que se articulam, mais estreitamente, com o ambiente em Portugal e, deste modo, contribuir para encetar um debate académico e a criar futuros contex-tos mais favoráveis à dimensão de género na gestão do território e na governança am-biental. A metodologia da pesquisa cen-trou-se na análise documental e em entre-vistas a actores públicos com relevância e actuação em matéria ambiental no territó-rio português.
Gender is important in environmental is-sues, nevertheless, the debate about the connections between gender and environ-ment, and more recently sustainable deve-lopment, is not yet finished. The main goal of this paper is to do a reflection about the relationships of gender with environmen-tal domains in Portugal, and therefore, to contribute to the development of the scien-tific debate in Portugal and to the design of future policy contexts more favourable to the gender dimensions in spatial planning and environmental management. The me-thodology of the research focused on the documental analysis and in interviews to public stakeholders with a relevant action in the environment.
