dc.description.abstractTendo como ponto de partida a viagem filosófica de Alexandre Rodrigues Ferreira à Amazónia no último quartel de setecentos, este artigo analisa a questão da circularidade dos saberes em suas diferentes modalidades e suas articulações possíveis para a construção do conhecimento científico sobre o mundo natural em finais do século XVIII. Para isso, identifica alguns autores e referências científicas que conformaram o pensar e a produção textual feita na viagem pelo naturalista Rodrigues Ferreira; a seguir, mapeia alguns de seus colaboradores intelectuais no curso da longa expedição à Amazónia luso-brasileira e, por fim, se dedica a explorar uma dimensão ainda pouco conhecida que diz respeito ao lugar dos saberes americanos, também chamados de “vulgares”, neste complexo processo de decodificação e de tradução da experiência concreta em saber científico formalizado.pt_PT
dc.description.abstractThe starting point of this article is Alexandre Rodrigues Ferreira’s philosophical voyage to the Amazon during the last quarter of the eighteenth century. The article intends to analyze the transfer of knowledge in its different modalities and articulations in the construction of scientific knowledge about the colonial natural world. Firstly, it identifies some authors and scientific references that shaped the thinking and textual production of the naturalist Rodrigues Ferreira; then, it maps out some of his intellectual collaborators during this long expedition to the Portuguese-Brazilian Amazonia; finally, it explores a dimension still little known regarding the place of American knowledge, also called “vulgar”, in this complex process of decoding and translating concrete experience into formalized scientific knowledge.pt_PT
