Resumo(s)
Environmental microbiology is an evolving science. This is in part driven by the development of new analytical techniques that are becoming more varied and powerful. Before they are applied, emerging techniques need to be critically evaluated by scientists, technical professionals, practitioners and students.
Trends in Environmental Microbiology for Public Health (TEMPH) 2014 offered the first opportunity for an international gathering of scientists from Europe and America to share and discuss cutting-edge environmental microbiology research focusing on sand and water habitats in temperate and tropical regions of the world. The meeting also provided a forum in which emerging pathogens, microbial toxins and resistance genes in air, water, sand and foodstuff in an environmental exposure context were discussed.
