Num mundo cada vez mais preocupado com a sustentabilidade, a renaturalização das
áreas urbanas tornou-se um objetivo proeminente para muitos países. O Japão destaca-se como
um exemplo importante, com um esforço concertado para integrar iniciativas de ecologia urbana
juntamente com o seu rápido desenvolvimento urbano, preservando ao mesmo tempo a sua rica
herança cultural e crenças.
Este estudo explora o papel da vegetação, ou “verdes”, na formação da imagem turística
das cidades japonesas, com foco nas cidades de Quioto e Fukuoka. Através da análise de
imagens recolhidas do Instagram, tanto publicadas por turistas quanto por Organizações de
Gestão de Destinos (DMOs), este estudo visa compreender até que ponto a vegetação é
representada e percebida na imagem turística das cidades japonesas.
Ao examinar a presença e representação dos verdes nestas imagens, esta investigação
procura elucidar a importância da vegetação urbana no sector do turismo no Japão.
In a world increasingly concerned with sustainability, the renaturalization of urban areas has become a prominent goal for many countries. Japan stands out as a leading example, with a concerted effort to integrate urban greening initiatives alongside its rapid urban development while preserving its rich cultural heritage and beliefs. This study explores the role of vegetation, or "greens," in shaping the tourist image of Japanese cities, focusing on the cities of Kyoto and Fukuoka. Through an analysis of images retrieved from Instagram, both those shared by tourists and those posted by Destination Management Organizations (DMOs), this study aims to understand the extent to which vegetation is represented and perceived in the tourist imagery of Japanese cities. By examining the presence and portrayal of greens in these images, this research seeks to elucidate the importance of urban vegetation in the tourism sector in Japan.
