A importância das companhias aéreas de baixo custo para a hotelaria nas cidades de Lisboa e Porto

As companhias aéreas de baixo custo são hoje uma realidade incontornável no paradigma
da aviação e do turismo, operando nos principais aeroportos nacionais. O seu modelo de negócio está,
por norma, muito associado à variável preço, ou seja, a preços baixos, pelo que, o objetivo principal da
investigação será perceber qual a importância das companhias aéreas de baixo custo na taxa de ocupação
das diferentes categorias de hotéis nas cidades de Lisboa e Porto. Os resultados apurados mostram que
à medida que se vai baixando na categoria dos hotéis, maior é a importância das companhias aéreas
de baixo custo na ocupação das unidades. Essa situação é mais premente e notória no mercado do
Porto cujo mercado se mostra mais dependente deste modelo de negócio aéreo. No entanto, a potencial
saída do mercado das companhias aéreas de baixo custo é sinalisado por todas as categorias hoteleiras
com o reconhecimento generalizado de uma grande perda de turistas e impactos no volume de vendas
e ocupação das unidades hoteleiras.
Low-cost airlines are today an unavoidable reality in aviation and tourism paradigm, operating in major Portuguese airports. Its business model is, normally, correlated with the variable price, in other words, to low prices, so the main objective of this investigation is to understand the importance of low cost carriers in the occupancy rate in the different categories of hotels, in the cities of Lisbon and Porto. The results show that as it is lowering the category of hotels, the greater the importance of the low cost carriers in the occupation of the units. This situation is more acute and notorious in Porto market, whose market shows more dependent on this air business model. However, the potential exit from the market of low cost carriers is pointed out for all hotel categories with the widespread recognition of a great loss of tourists and impacts on the volume of sales and occupancy of hotels.
