recurso às escalas Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES-9); Job Satisfaction Scale,
Satisfaction with Family Life Scale e a Boundary Violation Scale (Schaufeli et al., 2006;
Brayfield & Rothe; 1951; Zabriskie & Ward, 2013; Hunter et al., 2017). Os resultados
demonstraram uma relação positiva entre o work engagement e a satisfação com o trabalho;
parte do trabalho.
The present study aimed to analyze the relationship between work engagement and family and work satisfaction while also investigating the role of boundary violation within this relationship. In total, 231 Portuguese workers participated in this study, had an exemption from working hours, and were working from home following the implementation of national lockdowns due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Data was obtained through a questionnaire and scored using the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES-9); Job Satisfaction Scale, Satisfaction with Family Life Scale, and the Boundary Violation Scale (Schaufeli et al., 2006; Brayfield & Rothe; 1951; Zabriskie & Ward, 2013; Hunter et al., 2017). Results showed a positive relationship between work engagement and job satisfaction; a positive association between vigor and family satisfaction; a negative relationship between family-work boundary violation and family satisfaction; and a weak association between absorption and work-family boundary violations. Through the analysis of parallel mediation models, results showed a negative relationship between absorption (dimension of engagement) and job satisfaction due to boundary violation resulting from work. Suppressive effects were also found concerning engagement and boundary violations about job satisfaction. Some practical implications of the results and limitations of the study are presented and suggested directions for future research.
