exploradas dentro do país.
Tourism plays a vital role in the development of Portugal. However, the COVID- 19 pandemic had a significant impact on tourism, and people then began looking for alternative forms of tourism. Namely because the borders were closed, people had to travel within the country. One form of tourism that developed a lot since then is known as literary tourism. Literary tourism is a subset of tourism that focuses on places and events from literary texts as well as the lives of their authors. Portugal can therefore promote both its own authors and their works as well as authors who wrote their works in Portugal. The purpose of this thesis is to analyze the communication that is being carried out on literary tourism in the city of Lisbon. I began the literature review by discussing the development of tourism in Portugal and literary tourism itself. The development of communication to the present day was then covered. After completing the theoretical part, in order to meet the defined objectives, I used a variety of data collection techniques, including interviews, content analysis and focus group. The results obtained showed that literary tourism is still underdeveloped in Lisbon and throughout the country. Moreover, it showed that there are few entities involved in initiatives related to this type of tourism, despite the potential for its growth. Through the information collected, it was possible to understand that both the entities that are related to literary tourism and the public that seeks it have the same opinion: there is a lack of information and knowledge regarding literary tourism and even regarding cultural tourism. This study aims to contribute academically to research in both communication and tourism, and also to help professionals in the respective areas to develop better strategies and practices.
