Nos últimos anos a atenção sobre as imitações em pasta cinzenta de cerâmica campaniense cresceu exponencialmente até começarem a ser identificadas em muitos sítios por toda a Península Ibérica. Ainda assim, tardam em aparecer estudos unitários que caracterizem estas produções. É neste panorama investigativo que o presente estudo se insere, pretendendo-se caracterizar alguns conjuntos exumados em escavações no território português (Santarém, Faro e Castro Marim) com o fim de analisar autopticamente os fabricos e a morfologia, factores de grande interesse histórico-arqueológico pelo facto de serem consideradas unanimemente produções que imitam modelos formais exógenos ao âmbito cultural peninsular.
In recent years growing attention has been given to gray clay campanian ware imitating fine italic prototypes; these artifacts have been identified in many excavations of the Iberian peninsula. Nevertheless there still is a lack in studies which characterize this production. The present study aims to characterize some sets of this ceramic class found in Portuguese sites (Santarém, Faro and Castro Marim) in order to analyze, through autoptical examinations, the fabrics and the morphology which are factors of great historical-archaeological interest also because the gray clay ware is considered unanimously a peninsular production of formal models imitating exogenous productions.
