O património cultural assume capital importância na representação do passado
histórico-cultural e da memória colectiva e de um povo, considerada ainda, a identidade
e a riqueza da cultura de uma determinada civilização. Dada a importância do
património cultural para a vida das mulheres e dos homens na sociedade, submete-se a
reflexão, a sua valorização, os modos da sua preservação, conservação, para o bem da
humanidade no aqui (espaço) e no agora (tempo). As culturas têm-se afirmado um
recurso turístico estratégico e o turismo cultural é hoje um segmento importante que tem
motivado deslocações de milhares de turistas a nível global. O turismo cultural é um
dos mercados de rápido crescimento do turismo mundial, sendo considerado essencial
para promover destinos das diferentes regiões. O turismo é ainda considerado uma das
formas de produção de exibição cultural, na qual se transforma a cultura em locais
visitáveis e em objectos que podem ser visualizados, de modo que se afirma que esta se
tornou fundamental para o turismo, assim como o turismo para a cultura. É de destacar
ainda a visitabilidade e a visibilidade enquanto elementos dependentes da exibição
cultural. A presente dissertação aborda o tema “Estudo dos contributos da Cidade Velha
da Ribeira Grande de Santiago na valorização e preservação da cultura cabo-verdiana”
e tem como objectivo principal analisar e demonstrar a importância da Cidade Velha da
Ribeira Grande de Santiago na valorização e preservação da cultura cabo-verdiana. Para
o efeito utilizou-se a pesquisa exploratória de cunho qualitativo, tendo como objecto de
estudo a Cidade Velha da Ribeira Grande de Santiago de Cabo Verde, na qual foi
analisada a visibilidade e a visitabilidade, nomeadamente através do website Sidádi
Vêlha. Tomamos como referências para suportes teóricos os seguintes autores: Boyer
(1996), Dicks (2003), Fortuna (2001), Jorge (2005), Schofield (2008). Para além disso,
enaltecemos as contribuições conseguidas das reflexões de vários outros autores que
constam deste trabalho.
Cultural heritage assumes capital importance in the representation of the historical and cultural past and the collective memory of a people, also considering the identity and the richness of the culture of a given civilization. Given the importance of cultural heritage for the life of women and men in society, undergoes reflection, its valuation, the modes of its preservation, conservation, for the good of humanity in here (space) and now (time). Cultures have been claiming a strategic tourist resort and cultural tourism is now an important segment that has motivated displacement of thousands of tourists globally. Cultural tourism is one of the fastest growing global tourism markets, and is considered essential to promote destinations in different regions. Tourism is still considered one of the forms of cultural display production, which transforms cultures into visitable places and objects that can be viewed, so that is to say that culture has become essential to tourism, as well as tourism to cultures. One should also highlight the visitability and visibility as essential elements to the display of culture. This dissertation deals with the theme “Study of the contributions of Cidade Velha da Ribeira Grande de Santiago in the recovery and preservation of Cape Verdean culture” and its main objective is to analyze and demonstrate the importance of Cidade Velha da Ribeira Grande de Santiago in the appreciation and preservation of Cape Verdean culture. For this purpose we used the exploratory research of qualitative nature, having as object of study Cidade Velha da Ribeira Grande de Santiago, Cape Verde, in which we analyzed also the visibility and visitability present in the website “Sidádi Vêlha”. We have as theoretical references the following authors: Boyer (1996), Dicks (2003), Fortuna (2001), George (2005), Schofield (2008). In addition, the obtained contributions exalted the reflections of several other authors appearing in this work.
