Diabetes Mellitus is one of the major epidemics the world has ever faced, both in developing and developed countries. Globally, the number of people with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus has more than doubled in the last 20 years. Today, Diabetes is considered a chronic disease with increasing frequency in the Portuguese population. The present dissertation proposes the implementation of a Diabetes Prevention Program in Portugal, to reduce the prevalence of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in the Portuguese population. To achieve this goal, it is proposed the implementation of Prevent Program developed by Omada Health, an eHealth tool that promotes the development of preventive medicine, based in behavior changes through technology and digital design, social experience and gamification. Through its prevention program, Omada Heath aims to promote changes in habits and routines of people at risk of developing chronic diseases, such as Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. The paper describes the importance and impact of adopting healthy lifestyles and losing weight in the management of Diabetes. The methodology used in this case study included obtaining secondary data through the study of the various publications and readings available about the company and the implementation Prevent Program. It is expected that after 12 months of implementation of this program 30% of the risk of developing Diabetes will be reduced, after 16 weeks each user loses between 4 and 5% of their total body weight and that the result of implementing this program in Portugal will reduce government spending, given that the long-term return on investment is positive for both users and health plans from 24 to 36 months after joining the plan, thus reducing the medical costs associated with Diabetes Mellitus.
