dificuldades resultantes do desemprego.
The objective of this investigation is to understand the training process of unemployment people, who have created their own employment or founded their own company, supported by existing measures designed for this particular purpose by the Instituto do Emprego e Formação Profissional (IEFP). Going on the assumption that individuals acquire knowledge along the whole course of their life through training processes that encompass formal, informal and noformal styles, it interested us to understand, in the context of adult training, how it is acquired, what strategies are used to confront challenges that occur and the difficulties rising out of being unemployed. What equally interested us was to become aware of most significant aspects of the personal road that was taken and to understand what importance individuals attribute to the diverse types of knowledge in order to create their own company. To realise this objective, seven interviews (inspired by biographical interviews) were carried out with unemployment people who have built up their own companies or who are self-employed. Through this study it is possible to consolidate the idea that adults possess knowledge and skills resulting from the processes of experimental training and nonforma! education which constitute informative courses for business initiative. Given that training is intrinsic to the one who experiences it, it was even possible to observe the formative role of the social system and the way in which it helps, stimulates and inspires the personal directions people take.
