Childhood is a period that we all go through. Characterized by human growth, this phase is marked by play, learning, feelings, and imagination. Once the childhood phase is over, we carry unique memories with us, sometimes recalling them, sometimes setting them aside, stored in a metaphorical archive that is often almost forgotten. In this archive, we find specific and characteristic objects from when we were young. In this master's project in Contemporary Typographic and Editorial Practices, the aim is to explore the deconstruction of childhood, using typography as the primary tool. We divided the practical component into four parts: the pre-test phase, the test phase, the final book-file and finally, an exhibition. The resulting practical object is entitled Carácter e Caracteres: Livro-Arquivo. During the pre-test phase, a focus group is asked open-ended questions about childhood. The answers go through a process of selection and organisation in tables. After this procedure, the material needed to create the book-archive is obtained. In the test phase, a new focus group is needed, this time to interact with the book-file. Results will be obtained and, thanks to them, the book-file will undergo the necessary changes, ready to be printed, applying to the third phase of the project. In the fourth phase we'll talk a little about organising the exhibition as a result of the practical project. The final book-archive will be presented for the first time in print, with some of the objects that emerged during the deconstruction process on display, and during the exhibition the public will be presented with two interactive activities: recalling episodes from their childhood by relating them using an old typewriter and screen printing
