Exploring notions of animism, otherness and ancestry, this investigation focuses itself on vocation and the place of the human in the order of nature, taking into account our connection to the element of the earth — expressed in the humus — and to the element of the ether — expressed in the divine — as a focal point to think about artistic creation as a practice of engagement with the Other, that is, as a response to the mystical experience of a vocation. By means of narrative, philosophy and art, I seek to think about the human life and to present a vision that considers its relation to the non-human and to mystery — that which goes beyond and, simultaneously, makes our humanity, grounding it in the sphere of Being. Seeing life itself as a poem and the writing of a work on Earth, expressed in a purposeful rhythm of being and doing, this work draws a journey around the meaning of embodied existence and its interaction with the sacred through a vocation, approached here as an inner experience of the immanent mystery. I seek, above all else, to consider the exercise of grounding (earthing), of a connection to the earth, and the task of creation, of the making of life, as practices that summon and restore an ethics of being that can teach us to live as a part in the whole and to be human in a more-than-human world
