Este texto tem como objectivo proporcionar um roteiro das fontes relativas às finanças das regiões autónomas da Madeira e dos Açores, um resumo dos principais dados e um primeiro comentário dos elementos obtidos. As principais características comuns das finanças das duas regiões autónomas são: a execução aquém da previsão orçamental, o predomínio de saldos negativos e a baixa proporção das receitas fiscais nas receitas efectivas (sendo o remanescente consituido sobretudo por transferências da administração central).
“The finances of the Autonomous Regions 1977 -2000” - The aim of this text is to provide a guide to sources dealing with the finances of the autonomous regions of Madeira and the Azores, a summary of the main data and a preliminary comment on the information obtained. The most important common characteristics of the finances of the two autonomous regions are budget execution below the forecast amount, a predominance of negative balances and the low proportion of tax revenue in efective income (with the remaining amounts being composed mainly of tranfers from the central government).
