The present work had as main objective the description of all the activities developed during the professional internship in Orivárzea, S.A. In detail, it reportes the activities concerning weed management in rice fields. It is presented a short description of the rice cycle, the production system and the main weeds that appear in Orivárzea´s rice farmer’s area.
Orivárzea produces rice for direct consumption, producing rice specifically for child consumers, but also rice for seeding. The cultural operations are very similar, however, there are different requirements depending on the rice destiny. Those requirements influence directly the operations in the field, demanding a proper weed control management. Child´s rice production, specifically, does not allow the use of some herbicides and in other hand, rice´s seed production demands an extra operation at the cycle´s end, ensuring weed seeds absence in the harvested rice.
This work ends with a practical guide for rice farmers, concerning to weed chemical control management
