Neste trabalho final de mestrado, pretende-se abordar o tema “projectar para um lugar do Vinho do Porto”, onde o caso de estudo é a Casa Nobre do Cais Novo, situada na zona ribeirinha da cidade do Porto. A intenção é compreender como pode este conceito ser aplicado na reabilitação e requalificação da ruína existente, de modo a proporcionar condições singulares às pessoas que o visitam e que pretendam permanecer no seu interior/exterior.
De modo a viabilizar este projecto é necessário o recurso aos vários aspectos históricos, nomeadamente, o que fez surgir a identidade do vinho do Porto, tanto técnica como visual e quais as consequências para a cidade do Porto.
Pretende-se igualmente abordar o conteúdo histórico da própria Casa Nobre do Cais Novo, a sua utilidade, enquanto lugar privilegiado do vinho em pleno século XVIII e o que se pretende alcançar com a reabilitação da referida casa nobre, de modo a que este seja novamente um lugar de eleição para a revitalização da nova identidade do Vinho do Porto.
The subject of this paper is “design for a place of Port Wine” using as case study the “Casa Nobre do Cais Novo”, located in the riverside area of Oporto. The purpose of this thesis is to explore how this concept can be applied in the context of rehabilitation and requalification of an existing ruin in order to provide exceptional amenities to people that are visiting and exploring this place. In order to make this project feasible, it is important to make use of the different historical aspects, mainly the origins of Port wine, both technical and visual, along with the understanding of how it reflects on the Oporto city. It is also intended to address the historical background of the “Casa Nobre do Cais Novo” as a privileged place of wine in the 18th century and what is envisioned with its rehabilitation, so it is once again a place of choice for the revival of Port wine’s new identity.
