Dental trauma can be the result of numerous aggressions that can occur on the face. This type of event requires treatment to be carried out by a multidisciplinary team, including several specialties of Dentistry, to obtain the best possible result. There are several types of treatment to be applied when a trauma occurs to a tooth. Vital Pulp Therapy aims to preserve pulp vitality and it is indicated in cases of trauma to young or immature teeth, since in the long term they have the highest probability of success. This alternative to traditional endodontic treatment can prevent injury to the pulp-dentin complex and contribute to the preservation of the remaining pulp tissue. This treatment can be performed through several methods after a careful diagnosis by the dentist, such as direct pulp capping, partial pulpotomy or total pulpotomy. Furthermore, the choice of the material to use in this technique is extremely important, as it may affect the prognosis of the tooth. Those with the greatest consensus are calcium silicate-based cements such as Mineral Trioxide Aggregate and Biodentine®, but the last one has the greatest number of advantages and a better success rate.
