Esta dissertação tentou aprofundar o impacto económico que o cicloturismo tem nos operadores turísticos nacionais.
Foi criado um questionário com várias perguntas acerca do impacto do cicloturismo nos alojamentos turísticos bem como nas regiões aonde se encontram localizados. Foi enviado para os mais diversos alojamentos nacionais. As perguntas apresentadas neste questionário focaram-se no perfil típico do cicloturista que faz as suas férias em Portugal bem como questões de cariz económico. Foram também colocadas questões acerca do impacto económico que as ecopistas e ciclovias trouxeram tanto para os operadores bem como para as suas respetivas regiões.
Podemos verificar, através dos resultados obtidos do questionário, que o cicloturismo em Portugal (na maior parte dos Distritos) é um nicho de mercado. Corresponde na sua maioria a menos que 5% das ocupações anuais nos operadores turísticos nacionais.
No que concerne aos gastos por noite existe uma grande variedade de cicloturistas, a moda encontra-se entre os 30 e os 40 euros por noite. Porém existe uma fatia considerável que gasta mais que 50 euros por noite.
Os operadores turísticos afirmam ainda que este nicho de mercado não tem tido um impacto económico significativo, todavia afirmam também que tem vindo a crescer nos últimos anos.
This dissertation tried to deepen the economic impact that Bicycle tourism has on national tour operators. A questionnaire was created with several questions about the impact of Bicycle tourism in tourist accommodation and in the regions where it is located. It was sent to the most diverse national accommodations. The questions presented in this questionnaire focused on the typical cyclist profile that makes his holidays in Portugal as well as the economic impact of this tourism. Questions were also raised about the economic impact that the green ways and bicycle paths have brought to both the operators and their regions. We can verify, through the results obtained from the questionnaire, that cycling in Portugal (in most Districts) is a niche market. It corresponds mostly to less than 5% of annual occupations in national tour operators. In terms of spending per night there is a wide variety of cyclists, the mode is between 30 and 40 euros per night. However, there is a considerable slice that spends more than 50 euros per night. Tour operators also claim that this niche market has not had a significant economic impact, yet they also claim that this niche has been growing in recent years.
