Resumo(s)
In this Project we intend to know and understand the letter as a means, how its shapes reveal and communicate, by focusing in “Cruzada” magazine as a (physical) support on Catholic Church service, and reform its letters, as shapes, with what communicates its content. A way to comprehend these shapes as a potential, will be throughout na understanding roots of some mundane and common expressions that we will be able to know the development and evolution of letters form the dawn of communication to the shapes and means in use on the present century. This will lead us to an idea that starts within thoughts before it is represented and the importance of a process conjugated in gerund, that is to say, in the eyes of the Roman Catholic Church, a process that deals with these shapes as a result of a relationship. It will be a search for a tangible understanding of a transcendental relationship and shapes with what the human being reveals himself. The handwriting and, therefore, the gesture that results in letters, offers us a history that began in the early days and points towards a continuous future. The letters used by the human being as an external expression of a thought, write about history, and therefore in history. Thus, comes the idea of continuity of those who know themselves as part of a legacy, whether human or typographic. Nonetheless, considering the possibility that these are inseparable, the continuous movement is conjugated in the gerund and not in the preoccupation of closing matters. Thus, uniting transcendental and immanent principals that reveals the relationship between the being and the shape and, after an investigations between the purpose of letters and their function, analysing shapes existing in a specific context that is said catholic, we will intent to propose, a graphic language that it draws itself with letters adapted and appropriate to its content and time. These letters are revealed as part of a history that as been written without any end in sight. The carrier object of this reformulation proposal will be the “Cruzada” magazine, a communication organ of the Catholic Church. We will propose a typographic language – visual and graphic – adapted to its content.
