líder do moçarabismo conimbricense.
ABSTRACT: Sesnando Davides, governor of the region of Coimbra during the second half of the XI century, is still a mysterious figure in the history of that region. Little or Nothing is known about his provenance, education or ascention in the court of León and Castille, which allowed for the retaking of the city by the king Fernando I. On his governing of the city we have come across some interesting data, which helps us to understand the full extent of his power and action between the rivers Douro and Mondego. Despite the fact that there are a number of suitable papers about the action of Sesnando Davides, a concise study that systematizes all of the data, conceptions, ideas, propositions and sources is much needed. We will approach the figure of the count from several different dimensions: as a governor, alvazil, consul, warrior, judge, father, mozarab and counsellor of kings. It is also important to understand who were the men that were the closest to the consul, which was their participation in the administration of Coimbra and what exactly was their connection to Sesnando Davides. The almost three decade government of Coimbra by Sesnando Davides could be seen as a time of great growth and certain splendour for this city, with the count as the great leader of the mozarabs of Coimbra. Finally, it is our objective to determine what is the legacy of the consul and the consequences of his death for the mozarab elite in Coimbra and surrounding region.
