O atual relatório foi realizado no âmbito do Estágio Curricular integrado no Mestrado em Exercício e Saúde, da Faculdade da Motricidade Humana tendo em vista a aquisição do grau de Mestre. Tendo a duração de um ano letivo, o estágio teve como principal foco a intervenção no Programa Livre de Educação e Exercício na Osteoartrose (PLE²NO) e a avaliação da aptidão física no Instituto Português de Reumatologia (IPR). Os objetivos do estágio consistiam na aquisição de conhecimentos sobre a Osteoartrose do joelho (OAJ) e as doenças reumáticas, no desenvolvimento de capacidades para prescrever exercício e aconselhar à prática da atividade física, avaliação da aptidão física e liderança de sessões de grupo. O programa PLE²NO, onde decorreu o estágio, trata-se de um programa comunitário de 6 meses para indivíduos com OAJ com mais de 50 anos, que visa desenvolver as capacidades de autogestão da patologia através da educação e da prática de exercício físico. Após a realização do programa, os participantes apresentaram um aumento da força dos membros inferiores e melhorias significativas na velocidade de marcha. As metas traçadas no início do estágio foram cumpridas em conjunto com os objetivos do PLE²NO .
The current report was carried out as part of the Curricular Internship integrated in the Master's Degree in Exercise and Health, from the Faculty of Human Motricity with the goal of acquiring the Master's degree. Having the duration of the whole academic year, the internship had as focus the intervention in the Free Program of Education and Exercise in Osteoarthritis (PLE²NO) and physical fitness evaluations at The Portuguese Rheumatology Institute. The objectives of the internship were the acquisition of knowledge about osteoarthritis of the knee (KOA) and rheumatic diseases, the development of skills to prescribe exercise and advise the practice of physical activity, assessment of physical fitness and leadership of group sessions. The PLE²NO program, where the internship took place, is a 6-month community program for individuals with KOA over 50 years old, which aims to develop the pathology's self-management capabilities through education and physical exercise. After concluding the program participants showed increase in the strength of the lower limbs, and significant improvements of gait speed. The goals set at the beginning of the internship were achieved successfully as were the ones of the program.
