Resumo(s)
This research addresses the influence of patriarchy in Communication Design, recognizing the historical manifestations of its persistence and the initiatives that have been developed around depatriarchalizing design. The study is developed according to a theoretical, analytical, and project-based approach, highlighting the need to recognize and repair values rooted in the teaching of Communication Design, and seeking to revive the debate in defense of a depatriarchal pedagogy. To this end, the study begins by examining the historical roots of the discipline, under the influence of modernism, addressing the implications of patriarchy in various spheres of society. It explores the role of intersectional feminism, combined with postmodernist ideologies, in challenging the values perpetuated in the design discipline. It addresses pedagogies oriented towards social transformation, emphasizing their potential in recognizing and repairing parameters of oppression and privilege. It then proceeds to an analysis of projects and initiatives for depatriarchalizing design, with the aim of highlighting the transition from reflection to modes of action. In an attempt to bring the debate to the national context, interviews with teachers and students were conducted, highlighting approaches, principles, and the challenges of adopting such pedagogies, in the present and future of design education. Based on this theorical framework, analysis, and collection of testimonies, the project (for a) Depatriarchal Pedagogy is developed with the aim of reviving the debate on the patriarchal paradigm in design. The project includes a Manifesto contextualized by a Publication, and presents current Initiatives, while also bringing together testimonies and Contributions from the academic community that highlight principles, challenges, and guidelines for a Depatriachal Pedagogy. With this approach, the study seeks to raise awareness in the academic community about the influence of patriarchy in design education, providing a resource to promote and continue the debate around the issue, as well as a basis for future research and critical action.
