O estudo orgânico-funcional é fundamental para a utilização da classificação orgânico-funcional, o instrumento de classificação mais adequado para a representação da informação acumulada em sistemas de informação pretéritos, uma vez que decorre, recorrendo aos normativos legais e regulamentares, da caracterização da entidade produtora da informação – as suas funções e competências – e da caracterização da sua estrutura orgânica – a forma como se encontra organizada, bem como do seu contexto. O presente trabalho tem como objetivo compreender como se estrutura, numa perspetiva diacrónica, o sistema de informação da Escola Secundária Maria Amália Vaz de Carvalho. A investigação, de natureza qualitativa, suporta-se no método da investigação documental, e segue uma abordagem sistémica, segundo a Teoria Geral dos Sistemas. O trabalho atingiu plenamente dois dos três objetivos específicos propostos, a caracterização da estrutura orgânico-funcional do sistema de informação mencionado e a identificação das competências dos órgãos integrantes da estrutura orgânico-funcional, tendo sido iniciada a associação aos órgãos da informação constante do inventário do Arquivo Histórico da ESMAVC, contribuindo para uma futura proposta de quadro de classificação. Concluiu-se pela existência de uma correlação entre uma maior exaustividade das competências dos órgãos e a complexidade da estrutura orgânico-funcional, tal como sucede nos sistemas de informação abertos com trocas de informação, na aceção de Bertalanffy (1968) e Chiavenato (2003). A perspetiva diacrónica revelou-se de aplicação pertinente no presente trabalho, atendendo ao período temporal alargado e à abundância de legislação.
Functional organizational studies are paramount for the use of functional organizational classifications, which are the most suitable classification tools for the representation of accumulated information in past information systems. Functional organizational studies come upon the characterization of information producers and their organical structure, taking into account their role and competences, as well as the way they are organized and their context. This work aims to understand how an information system is organized under a diachronic perspective – the information system of Maria Amália Vaz de Carvalho High School. This qualitative research follows the document analysis method and was conducted based on a systemic approach, according to the General Systems Theory. This research reached two of the three specific goals – the characterization of the functional organizational structure of the information system and the list of roles and competences assigned to bodies of the functional organizacional structure. Information of ESMAVC historical archives was assigned to the structure’s bodies, paving the way for a future proposal of a classification scheme. The study turned out to find a correlation between the thoroughness of the bodies’ competences and the complexity of the functional organizational structure, as Bertalanffy (1968) and Chiavenato (2003) understand open systems with information exchanges. The diachronic perspective proved itself useful for this research, given the long time lapse and the abundance of legislation.
