Abstract(s)
The present work assumes vastly the very concrete challenge posed by Joseph Beuys: the one of setting foot on the path, in the field of a real experience through the world of work, specifically in the artistic and museological environment. It was with this intent that we set out to analyse the role of the cultural mediator in the context of the pandemic of the century, a problem even more pertinent in the unprecedented context we have recently been going through. It is described in detail the attendance of an Internship Programme at the Museum of Arts, Architecture and Technology, which — like the institution that shelters it — has valences in the artistic and scientific field. Thus allowing young people with this appetite to work in a museological institution through these two aspects. The programme was not prepared for the COVID 19. pandemic and was adapted over time, according to foreseen and unforeseen needs. The museum effectively accommodated itself to a reality different from usual, with a drastic reduction in the number of daily visitors, guided tours and also school visits, in a context unimaginable until then. The institution's guides and mediators also had to adapt - and from here was born the ultimate object of investigation of this project, stated earlier in its initial basis. The final reflection also presents many suggestions for improving the working conditions in these specific areas, allowing us to create a document that tells a story made up of the different museological visions discussed during this internship programme, demonstrating what it was like to live and work in a time of uncertainty.
