Resumo(s)
A nossa vivência é altamente impactada pela presente conjuntura tecnológica e digital.
A entrevista semiestruturada e subsequente
Our existence is deeply impacted by present-day technology and digital setting. This dynamic, fluctuating reality affects plenty of aspects of our lives, such as the world of work, for example, which is quickly evolving and producing new types of jobs and careers. The purpose of this investigation was to study said kinds of job – namely digital influencers and digital start-up entrepreneurs – through a qualitative exploratory research that intended to understand how chance and personal initiative affected these non-traditional careers and occupations. It also felt relevant to analyze variables related to conceptions of success and future expectations regarding these professional activities. Data was collected through semistructured interviews and this data was later interpreted by conducting content analysis; the sample consisted of 12 adult individuals, of portuguese and brazilian nationality, working in the digital influence and digital start-up fields. The data analysis showed that planned happenstance – the role of initiative and action – has substantially influenced their careers and that these individuals possess a set of skills which have allowed them to take advantage of nonplanned events and opportunities. It was equally found that their personal conceptions of success go simultaneously in favor with and against contextual conceptions of success and that reported future job expectations align with the notion of digital growth and development.
