A palavra permite aos heróis da epopeia alexandrina manter a coesão do grupo e encontrar a estratégia ideal para contactar pacificamente com os outros povos. Jasão é um chefe que se preocupa com a opinião dos companheiros e se interessa por conseguir sempre relações cordiais com os que encontra. Para entender melhor o mundo heroico da epopeia alexandrina analisámos os epítetos dos sintagmas que introduzem o discurso dos Argonautas entre si e destes com os que governam as terras onde desembarcam. Este estudo permite-nos considerar a humildade e a tolerância como novos valores heroicos, que surgem em complementaridade com a ousadia e um juízo crítico sobre as situações. Entre todos sobressai meilichie, que significa ao mesmo tempo abordagem diplomática e respeito pelos deuses. De facto, esta constitui o principal traço definidor do novo mundo heroico que se situa nos antípodas da guerra.
The words allow the heroes of the Alexandrian epic to maintain the cohesion of the group and to find the ideal strategy for peaceful contact with the other countries. Jason is a leader worried about the group’s opinion and at the same time interested in keeping always diplomatic relations with foreigners. To better understand the heroic world of this Hellenistic epic, we analyse the epithets of the discourse every time an Argonaut speaks within the group or with those from others countries. This study allows us to consider humility and tolerance as heroic values working together with boldness and critical assessment of situations. Among all values, meilichie, which means diplomatic approach and gods’ reverence, stands out as the main defining feature of a world located in the opposite place of war.
