Este trabalho teve por objectivo a caracterização da frequência da mortalidade, raça,
idade e sexo, bem como a sazonalidade da parvovirose canina. Foram também
estudados o estado vacinal e a apresentação clínica dos animais infectados. Procedeu-se
ainda ao estudo do comportamento das linhas leucocitárias durante o período de
internamento.
Num estudo observacional composto por 14 casos retrospectivos e 14 prospectivos de
canídeos com diagnóstico clínico de parvovirose canina confirmado através de teste
ELISA, obtiveram-se hemogramas completos diariamente enquanto o animal
permanecesse em internamento. Os dados extraídos dos hemograma constituíram
grupos correspondentes ao número de dias de internamento.
Os resultados revelaram uma mortalidade de 14,3% (n=4/28). 42,9% dos animais em
estudo pertenciam ao sexo feminino (n=12/28) e 57,1% ao sexo masculino (n=16/28). A
maior frequência de casos ocorreu na faixa etária dos 2 aos 6 meses de idade (67,9%,
n=19/28), nos meses de Setembro a Novembro (67,9%, n=19/28), e em animais de raça
indeterminada (67,9%, n=19/28). Os animais distribuíram-se por 8 raças diferentes,
sendo a mais representativa a Epagneul Bretão 7,1% (n=2/28).
Relativamente à evolução dos leucócitos, os resultados evidenciaram a ocorrência de
leucopénia entre os dias 2 e 4, linfopénia aos dias 1 e 3 e eosinopénia aos dias 2, 4 e 5.
Estes resultados permitem concluir que os animais com infecção com parvovírus se
encontram com quadros mais graves entre os dias 1 a 5 do decurso da doença.
ABSTRACT - LEUKOCITARY KINECTICS IN THE CLINICAL EVOLUCION OF THE CANINE PARVOVIROSIS - The objective of this study was to characterize the frequency of mortality, breed, age and gender, as well as the seasonality in canine parvovirus enteritis. The vacinal status and the clinical presentation of the infected animals were also subject of study. In addition, the behavior of the leukocyte lines during hospitalization was analyzed. In an observational study composed of 14 retrospective and 14 prospective cases of dogs with clinical diagnosis of canine parvoviral enteritis confirmed with ELISA, complete blood counts (CBC) were obtained daily whilst the animal was hospitalized. The data extracted from the CBCs constituted groups that corresponded to the number of days of hospitalization. The results showed a mortality of 14,3% (n=4/28). 42,9% of the studied animals were females (n=12/28) and 57,1% males. The higher frequency of cases occurred from 2 to 6 months of age (67,9%, n=19/28), between the months of September and November (67,9%, n=19/28) and in animals of undetermined breed (67,9%, n=19/28). The animals were distributes in 8 different breeds, the most representative being the Epagneul Breton7,1% (n=2/28). In regard to the leukocyte evolution, the results showed the presence of leukopenia between the days 2 and 4, lymphopenia during the days 1 and 3 and eosinopenia on days 2, 4 and 5. These results allow the conclusion that animals with parvoviral infection have a more severe clinical status between the days 1 through 5 of the disease.
