Com o desenvolvimento da tecnologia móvel, o uso de aplicações de
Mobile Assisted
Vocabulary Learning (MAVL) torna se cada vez mais comum na China. Contudo, devido à
pouca oferta de materiais didát icos e à falta de elites formada s em língua portuguesa, os
recursos didáticos atuais não conseguem atender às necessidades da aprendizagem de
vocabulári o de um número crescente de aprendentes chineses de Português como Língua
Estrangeira.
Esta dissertação visa inquirir a atualidade da aprendizagem de vocabulário em português
como língua e strangeira (PLE) e as atitudes dos aprendentes chineses com respei to a recursos
de MAVL, com base em dados obtidos, em pesquisa, por inquérito e em várias obras de
referência nos domínios relacionados, tendo como objetivo principal propor um desenho da
aplicação de MAVL em PLE para sugerir uma solução possível para facil itar e flexibilizar a
aprendizagem de vocabulário em PLE na China. Para além do desenho proposto, são dadas
algumas sugestões para a aprendizagem de vocabulário que vão ao encontro d as dificuldades
enfrentadas pelos aprendentes chineses.
O enquadramento teórico deste trabalho abrange duas vertentes principais: por um lado,
o ensino aprendizagem de vocabulário em língua estrangeira (LE), delimitando, em princípio,
o s termos e conceitos usados no ensino aprendizagem de vocabulário em LE; por outro lado, a
o utra vertente relaciona se com MAVL, focando as teorias de aprendizagem de vocabulário em
plataformas de dispositivos eletrónicos.
Além da recensão bibliográfica e do levantamento das aplicações já existentes para a
a prendizagem de vocabulário em inglês como língua e strangeira (ILE) e PLE, esta dissertação
vai utilizar métodos de inquérito e análise quantitativa de resultados como metodologia, a fim
de caracterizar os hábitos, preferências e necessidades dos aprendentes chineses quando
aprendem vocabulári o em português e analisar os dados recolhidos no inquérito para elaborar
e propor um desenho de aplicação de MAVL em PLE.
Com este trabalho pretende se responder às seguintes questões principais de investigação:
1. Como é que os aprendentes chineses aprendem vocabulário em PLE?
2. O que seria uma aplicação ideal de MAVL em PLE para aprendentes chineses?
With the development of mobile technology, the use of Mobile Assisted Vocabulary Learning (MAVL) applications is becoming increasingly common in China. However, due to the limited supply of teaching materials and the lack of Portuguese language speaking elites, the available resources for teaching and learning are unable to meet the vocabulary learning needs of the growing number of Chinese learners of Portuguese as a Foreign Language. This dissertation aims to investigate the current relevance of vocabulary learning in Portuguese as a Foreign Language, as well as needs and expectations of Chinese learners towards MAVL resources . This research is based either on specific res earch or on b ibliographic review o n the domains related to this subject. T he main objective of this dissertation is to propose a design of a MAVL application for Portuguese learning. In addition to the proposed design, some suggestions in vocabulary learning are given according to the difficulties faced by Chinese learners. The theoretical framework of this work covers two main aspects: the teaching learning of vocabulary in a foreign language , and its main principles and concepts ; another aspect relates to MAVL, fo cusing on t heories of vocabulary learning through electronic devices. In addition to the literature review and the survey of existing applications for vocab ulary learning in English as a foreign language and Portuguese as a foreign l anguage, this disser tation will adopt inquiry and quantitative analysis of results as its methodology, in order to characterize the habits, preferences and needs of Chinese learners when learn ing Portuguese vocabulary and analyze the data collected in the survey to elaborate an application design of MAVL for Portuguese vocabulary learning.
