dc.description.abstract	This dissertation, as well as its research, aims to establish a relationship between Jeff Wall's photographic work and other artistic spheres, such as cinema, painting, sculpture and dramaturgy, as well as conceptual theories about themes like the grotesque, the truth and the memory. The methodology used for the conception of this dissertation is based on a deep analysis of the author's work, through the observation of his images, his own writings, interviews, as well as studies done by other authors about the work of Jeff Wall. Through the selected images, authored by Jeff Wall, will establish a foundation of understanding, also analyzing their methodologies, of creation and exposure, as a focus for the deduction of various conclusions. The grotesque appears as a constant in the work of the photographer, and it will be through the theorizations of Bakhtin and Victor Hugo that will establish a bridge with the work of Wall. The truth will be one of the most pertinent concepts in this dissertation, being theorized through the conception of Nietzsche. Jeff Wall's relationship with the other artistic domains, presented throughout this thesis, is of extreme relevance to a clear understanding about his work, and also of his methodology and, consequently, of his conceptual thinking. This research aims at recognizing photography as an artistic sphere with autonomous capacity, possessing singular characteristics, establishing its role of extreme importance for the art in the actual days	pt_PT
