Perante o aumento da esperança média de vida, de um nível de envelhecimento marcante e de uma desadequação do espaço público, em termos de acessibilidade e mobilidade para esta camada da população, mas também para a restante população de outras faixas etárias, o mote para este trabalho centra-se nesta problemática, como o foco na requalificação de parte do Centro Histórico, em Serpa.
O presente trabalho trata o tema do Habitar e Viver em Serpa, mais em concreto no seu Centro Histórico. Com esta abordagem, procura-se uma forma de tornar o Espaço Público como um elemento de qualificação da cidade, englobando as diferentes perspetivas de refletir sobre a questão.
Após um estudo sobre a cidade de Serpa, mais concretamente sobre a área na qual se pretende localizar a intervenção, foram identificados problemas e potencialidades do espaço, promovendo-se, desse modo, uma estratégia que coloca o Espaço Público como um elemento chave, visto com uma componente inclusiva, à qual se associa, na proposta, a acessibilidade e soluções que incorporam o envelhecimento ativo.
As we face an increase in average life expectancy, a high level of generalized aging in the population, and an inadequacy of public space, in terms of accessibility and mobility, specifically for the older stratum, but also from other age groups, the motto for this work is centered on this issue, with particular focus on the requalification of part of the Historic Centre, in Serpa. The present work deals with the theme “Inhabit and Live in Serpa”, more specifically in the Historic Center. Through this approach, a procedure is being inquired to turn the public space into an element of qualification in the city, encompassing different ways of reflecting on the issue. After a brief study about the city of Serpa, and more specifically of the area in which the intervention is located, problems and potentialities of the space were identified, thus promoting a strategy that places the Public Space as a key element with an inclusive purpose, associating in it the accessibility and solutions that incorporate active aging.
