Abstract(s)
The proving that the metamorphosis operated in the social life of Nisa's quartz inlaid pottery inexorably leads to its extinction, justifies the urgency of studying this important immaterial cultural heritage. Through a design methodology of design, using participatory methodologies and collaborative processes, allied to the use of the social sciences analysis and study tools, such as anthropology and ethnography, we considered at first, to contribute to the urgent effort of safeguarding, by studying some artifacts of Nisa's quartz inlaid pottery belonging to private collections existing in Nisa district and two national museums (National Museum of Ethnology and Museum of Popular Art) in order to constitute their social biography; for in a second moment, to consider this production in the disciplinary context of design. In the present investigation, we understand that the reflection on the possibility of transposing some of the characteristics of Nisa's quartz inlaid pottery and (re)establishing nexus of continuity, through the creation of collaborative platforms between the academy and the artisan producers of Nisa's quartz inlaid pottery, still active, through disciplinary design practice; will make it possible to revitalize this particular cultural heritage and thus create new paths for the future. Based on this process, the ultimate purpose of the present investigation, which consisted in the production and subsequent validation of workshops in the field -as a tool for interaction analysis-, aimed at creating an interaction model, following a collaborative design approach, between design education, local artisans and local community, which aims be replicated in similar contexts, thus actively contributing to the protection of this intangible cultural heritage in contemporaneity.
