With the intensive use of the internet over the years, it started to impact every aspect of
our lives. One of the most significant challenges is the language barrier. Surveys show
that 76% of the customers prefer purchasing products with information in their own
language, making the translation of online texts and websites mandatory.
The project I’m doing is a Web-Based Translator to be used by the company I’m doing
an internship with is called ’Quidgest’. The company is known for its low-code agile
platform called ’Genio’ and the Translator will be implemented and used in ‘Genio Web’
which is a web version of ‘Genio’ that is still in development. Currently, the company
has a translator for ‘Genio’ but is old and outdated. That older version works
automatically but only if the user has a Microsoft Azure account set up and so most users
just use it to save the texts manually, which means that they must do all the translations
manually or use an external translation tool. Furthermore, it’s not very user-friendly
either. Since the company decided to keep using Microsoft Azure as the translation tool,
I couldn’t improve much on this part, so I focused on creating a good interface for the
translator.
In this project I will be programming the Translator in ’Genio’, which means I will
use the company platform to create the new translator.
