As estruturas de sustentabilidade atuais fornecem orientações valiosas, mas não cobrem adequadamente todas as dimensões - ambiental, social e governança - para este setor. Este trabalho de investigação aborda a necessidade crítica de uma ferramenta de sustentabilidade abrangente, especificamente projetada para a indústria cosmética. Através da avaliação das estruturas existentes e da realização de entrevistas com especialistas, foram identificados os principais desafios enfrentados pelas empresas de cosméticos na implementação de práticas sustentáveis. Estes incluem a redução do uso de água, eficiência energética, embalagens sustentáveis, educação do consumidor, impacto ao longo do ciclo de vida, desafios regulamentares e sustentabilidade social. Além disso, perceções de profissionais do setor destacaram tópicos essenciais que devem ser incluídos na ferramenta a ser desenvolvida, como práticas éticas, inovação, transparência e avaliações do ciclo de vida. O objetivo é criar uma ferramenta de sustentabilidade abrangente que aborde esses desafios e melhore a comunicação dos esforços de sustentabilidade aos consumidores. O objetivo da ferramenta deve ser fomentar uma maior conscientização e confiança do consumidor, promovendo, em última análise, uma indústria de cosméticos mais sustentável e transparente.
Current sustainability frameworks provide valuable guidance but fail to cover all dimensions - environmental, social, and governance - adequately for this sector. This research work addresses the critical need for a comprehensive sustainability tool specifically designed for the cosmetics industry. Through evaluating existing frameworks and conducting expert interviews, key challenges faced by cosmetics companies in implementing sustainable practices were identified. These include water usage reduction, energy efficiency, sustainable packaging, consumer education, lifecycle impact, regulatory challenges, and social sustainability. Additionally, insights from industry professionals highlighted essential topics that should be included in a new tool, such as ethical practices, innovation, transparency, and lifecycle assessments. The goal is to create a comprehensive sustainability tool that addresses these challenges and enhances the communication of sustainability efforts to consumers. The aim of the tool should be to foster greater consumer awareness, trust, and engagement, ultimately promoting a more sustainable and transparent cosmetics industry.
