Abstract(s)
The riverside shore of Almada is marked by a constant transformation, dictated by the time and mainly by human activity, specially in the riverfront. As a way to understand such transformation, topics and concepts are analyzed, as well as the historical and evolutional part of the south shore of the river, at many scales, from the scale of Tejo and its hydrographic basin to the land in study - the old shipyards of Lisnave, in Margueira. Approaching the analyze of thematic concepts, the land in study is inserted in Tejo river and in its connection to the Atlantic Ocean, in an important area for Almada and Lisbon for being an entrance for both. The south shore of Tejo is featured by the difusion of clusters, developed mainly in waterfronts, and rich in industries and in activities connected to the sea and the river. Margueira, the main section in focus, is a land with a strong influence in the history and evolution of Almada, marked by a constant transformation in the shore through the times. It is nowadays a risk in the city, due to its degraded state and a part that is disaggregated from the city. In this essay is done a reflexion over the involved thematic, into territorial analyzes and study references, projecting an area of transformed shore which connects the river and Almada in an utopy with new life in the city, creating an entrance marked by courses, nautic activities and new urban clusters.
