Abstract(s)
This report details the laboratory internship integrated into the curriculum of the Master’s program in Clinical Analysis at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Lisbon, conducted at the SYNLAB Lisbon Clinical Analysis Laboratory. The primary objectives of this internship were to consolidate and apply the theoretical knowledge acquired throughout the academic training and to develop professional experience. The report summarizes the activities carried out in the laboratory phases of Pre-Analytical, Clinical Chemistry, Immunology, and Molecular Pathology, addressing the various methodologies associated with each laboratory domain, as well as the key analytical parameters and their clinical significance. Additionally, topics related to Hygiene, Health and Safety, and Quality Control are discussed. This document also presents a monograph titled “The Vaccination Plan and Treatment of HPV Infection and Its Impact on Portuguese Society During the SARS-CoV-2 Pandemic.” Infection with the Human Papillomavirus is one of the most prevalent sexually transmitted infections and is regarded as a public health concern. This infection is also linked to the development of cervical cancer, making vaccination a crucial preventive measure. The onset of the pandemic has placed an overwhelming burden on the healthcare system and has led to the implementation of social isolation measures, which have influenced the delivery of services, including vaccination programs. In this context, the study serves as a literature review exploring the potential impact of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic on HPV vaccination in Portugal.
