a “desumanização do homem” (Jonas, 1984, p.136) e a destruição do ambiente põem
The collective responsibility regarding the threats to the planet, our common home, and the awareness that the future of humanity and the future of the Earth are inextricably linked, give rise to a more acute awareness that the "dehumanisation of man" (Jonas, 1984, p.136) and the degradation of his environment endangers the preservation of the very human species. This dissertation seeks to establish a link between the concept of Circular Economy (CE) and Landscape Architecture (LA), with the purpose of understanding the potential that a circular system can have in a sustainable landscape project, in which the two areas converge. To survey of the principles of CE common to the design in LA, we started by doing the literature review in both scientific areas, in an attempt to understand, in a holistic way, their paradigms. On the other hand, the study of the legislation allowed to understand the legal framework in which we move, in Portugal, in Europe and in the world. From the combination of these aspects emerges a reflection on how to project, in landscape architecture, based on the principles of CE, and the description of case studies that exemplify the proximity between these subjects. As a result of the research, we present a proposal of intervention for the municipality of Odivelas, with a diachronic analysis of the territory and the problems that have arisen in the area up to the present moment. The principles defined for the project were applied to this idea that aims to value the space, the landscape sustainability and the quality of life of those who inhabit it.
