As competĂȘncias associadas a estas
The massive use of digital technologies has transformed everyday life and, in particular, the way young people interact with the world. Inserted in an increasingly digital environment, teenagers use these technologies for multiple tasks, from research to communication. The skills associated with these tasks, known as âdigital skillsâ, are essential in the 21st century, both for academic life and for the job market. In this context, it is essential to understand how these skills are being developed in schools and how technologies are being integrated into the education system. This research aims to explore young portuguese people's perceptions of their digital skills, as well as addressing the integration of technologies in the school environment. Descriptive and quantitative in nature, the empirical research was based on analyzing the responses of 62 young people to a questionnaire. This instrument was subdivided into three dimensions. The first sought to ascertain young people's knowledge and definition of digital skills. The second dimension aimed to understand young people's level of competence in various digital categories and tasks. The third focused on understanding, from the perspective of young people, how digital skills and technologies are being applied and developed in schools, in order to assess their level of digital readiness. The data shows that although young people consider themselves to have various digital skills, these are often at a superficial and shallow level. Furthermore, despite the growing use of technology, its integration into education remains limited. It is therefore important to make this integration effective in order to promote the development of students' digital skills, which are fundamental to their success in the 21st century.
