A presente Investigação tem como objetivo investigar o Design de Comunicação enquanto comunicador de espaços urbanos habitados e promotor da sua fluidez organizacional, através do estudo da organização espacial e do património cultural local. Teve como objetivo responder às Questões de Investigação colocadas: No contexto da vivência e fruição das cidades, qual é o papel do designer enquanto agente de comunicação de forma a proporcionar uma melhor organização espacial? De que modo os Sistemas de Wayfinding podem promover este tipo de práticas?
Propõe-se a criação de um Sistema de Wayfinding para a cidade de Alcobaça que contribua para o seu desenvolvimento e afirmação e que reflita os seus valores, utilizando para isso uma linguagem visual agregadora do potencial cultural, social e económico, que valorize e promova a cidade relativamente ao panorama nacional.
Pretende-se investigar quais os possíveis contributos do Design de Comunicação na organização es-pacial das cidades e demonstrar a importância dos Sistemas de Wayfinding nas cidades e na sociedade, contribuir para a inovação desta área e da gestão espacial assim como para o Design de Comunicação e através disso adquirir conhecimento na área do Wayfinding e Sistemas de Informação. Como objetivos específicos da Investigação procura-se fornecer à cidade de Alcobaça um Sistema de Comunicação ade-quado que visa permitir uma boa orientação e gestão espacial na cidade, respondendo assim às neces-sidades dos utilizadores, tornando-a num espaço com fluidez organizacional de forma a promover os espaços culturais e o seu património e, por fim, conjugar e aplicar o conhecimento adquirido na criação de uma linguagem visual agregadora dos valores da cidade.
Para tal, foi utilizada uma metodologia de natureza mista, assente em métodos intervencionistas e não intervencionistas de base qualitativa, passando por todas as fases de investigação (exploratória, ge-nerativa e avaliativa). Espera-se que a presente investigação seja um contributo para futuras pesquisas neste âmbito e que o projeto seja aplicado na cidade de forma que cumpra o seu objetivo final, o de orientar os utilizadores em Alcobaça e trazer fluidez e organização à cidade.
The aim of this research is to study Communication Design as a communicator of inhabited urban spaces and promoter of their organizational fluidity, through the study of spatial organization and local cultural heritage, to answer the research questions posed: In the context of living and enjoying cities, what is the role of the designer as a communication agent to provide a better spatial organization? How can Way-finding Systems promote this type of practice? It is proposed to create a Wayfinding System for the city of Alcobaça that contributes to its develop-ment and reflects its values, using a visual language that aggregates the city’s cultural, social and eco-nomic potential and in some way values and promotes the city in the national context. The intention is to investigate the possible contributions of Communication Design to the spatial or-ganization of cities and demonstrate the importance of Wayfinding Systems in cities and society, contrib-ute to the innovation of this area and spatial management as well as Communication Design and through this acquire knowledge in Wayfinding and Information Systems. As specific objectives of the research, we seek to provide the city of Alcobaça with an adequate Communication System that aims to allow efective orientation and spatial management in the city, thus responding to the needs of users, making it a space with organizational fluidity in order to promote cultural spaces and its heritage and finally, combine and apply the knowledge acquired in the creation of a visual language that aggregates the values of the city. For this purpose, a mixed methodology will be used, based on interventionist and non-interventionist methods of a qualitative nature, covering all stages of research (exploratory, generative and evaluative). It is expected that this research will be a contribution to future research in this field and that the project will be applied in the city in such a way that it achieves its final objective, that of guiding users in Alcobaça and bringing fluidity and organization to the city.
