A fundamentação desta tese
Teixeira de Pascoaes’s gnostic-marcionite system, of a clear manichean nature, is condensed in the aphorism “Poetry is only worth as Theology”, invariably rewritten in a variable way throughout his work, and finding another formula to say the same, in one of his unpublished work’s: “Poetry is the religion of heretics, as philosophy is of atheists”. A reader who finds this previous premises valid will have to take the consequent premise with the same seriousness: Pascoaes's work should be read as a corpus controlled and determined by this major theme. The foundation of this thesis will be based on an analysis of the unpublished work in continuous comparison with the published work, highlighting the way in which Poetry exceeds Religion.
