A banda desenhada na promoção da literacia visual nas bibliotecas públicas. Estudo de caso

As bibliotecas desempenham um papel importante na educação, principalmente junto dos mais jovens, nomeadamente no desenvolvimento das literacias de informação. Atualmente, o desenvolvimento da literacia visual tem um papel relevante na educação das crianças, pois estas vivem rodeadas de media visuais e são expostas desde muito cedo a dispositivos eletrónicos e às suas interfaces. É neste contexto que a banda desenhada surge como uma ferramenta para auxiliar o desenvolvimento da literacia visual, sendo o objetivo desta investigação averiguar a utilização da banda desenhada por parte das bibliotecas públicas no desenvolvimento da literacia visual nas crianças. Para a presente investigação foi realizada uma revisão de literatura que permitiu perceber que a pergunta de partida é pertinente e que existem poucos estudos sobre o assunto. Permitiu também perceber que de facto se registam benefícios para as crianças através da utilização da banda desenhada no seu crescimento e educação. A metodologia aplicada nesta investigação foi o estudo de caso, tendo sido utilizada como técnica de recolha de dados o inquérito por entrevista. Esta investigação trata-se de um estudo de caso comparativo, tendo sido selecionadas para o mesmo a Biblioteca Municipal Fernando Piteira Santos, na Amadora, e a respetiva Bedeteca, e a Biblioteca Municipal de Beja José Saramago e a Bedeteca de Beja. Com este trabalho foi possível averiguar que apesar de as bibliotecas públicas e bedetecas em estudo terem em conta a importância da literacia visual e algumas atividades nesse sentido, o desenvolvimento da mesma é algo acessório aos principais objetivos das atividades. Uma vez que existem as bedetecas, verificou-se que as atividades relacionadas com a banda desenhada ocorrem sobretudo nestes espaços, não existindo atividades planeadas para o desenvolvimento da literacia visual.
Libraries play an important role in education, especially among young people, namely in the development of information literacy. Currently, the development of visual literacy plays an important role in the education of children, as they are displayed in visual media and are from an early age to integrated devices and interfaces. It is in this context that comics emerge as a tool for support the development of visual literacy, being the goal of this work investigate the use of comics by public libraries in the development of visual literacy in children. For this investigation was made a literature review that allowed to understand that the subject of this work is pertinent and that there is little information on the subject. It also made it possible to understand that there are in fact benefits for children using comics in their growth and education. The methodology applied in this investigation was the case study, and the interview survey was used as a data collection technique. This investigation is a comparative case study, with the Municipal Library Fernando Piteira Santos, in Amadora, and the Bedeteca of Amadora, as well as the Municipal Library of Beja José Saramago and the Bedeteca of Beja. With this study it was possible to verify that although the public libraries and bedetecas under study consider the visual literacy and some activities in this sense, the development of visual literacy is something accessory to the main objectives of their activities. As there are bedetecas, it was found that activities related to comics only occur in these spaces, however there are no activities planned for the development of visual literacy.
